Juice Up Your Life!

Why Juice?

If you are looking for an easy and effective way to do something amazing for your body, consider the powerful health benefits of juicing The body can quickly absorb larger amounts of nutrients from juices than from solid foods because the process of digestion that is necessary when you eat whole foods is bypassed. On average, a glass of fresh vegetable/fruit juice floods your blood stream with superb nutrients in about 5 minutes!

We at Santé believe in Juicing fresh, raw, organic fruit and vegetables. We have been juicing daily for over 4 years now and know and feel the joy and positive benefits of Juicing! Occasionally we even go on 1, 3, 7, 10 day juice fasts that cleanse the whole body system making you feel like new again! Juicing makes you glow, gives you energy and assists your body in detoxifying from environmental toxins. Fresh juices super boost your nutritional intake with an abundance of high-quality, super absorbable vitamins and minerals. Not only that, fresh, living vegetable and fruit juices are also a veritable liquid powerhouse rich in natural plant enzymes, phytonutrients and antioxidants  – it is the quite literally the number one tool to health, longevity and vitality.

Variety is the spice of life!

Juices can be combined in so many ways to make them palatable and delicious. Their diverse colors and taste enable a huge variety so that you will not get bored.  Over time your palette will adjust and learn to appreciate the different flavors of each juice you make.

Juice for Energy!

For those who feel they need an extra boost there is nothing better than drinking 2-3 cups of raw vegetable juice every day providing extra energy and endurance. Drinking fresh juice everyday will help the body detoxify and regenerate through the assimilation of the earth’s purest life-giving nutrients. Raw juices are packed with living enzymes to assist the digestive process, which means your digestive system, liver and pancreas do not have to work very hard to extract almost 99% of the nutrients within the raw vegetables and fruits.  This conserves vital body energy, which means that the body does not feel heavy or weighed down after drinking raw juices.

Maximize nutrition!

If eating raw vegetables, salads and soups are not appealing enough to acquire the minimum 6 to 9 cups (5 to 7 servings) of vegetables and fruits each day, then, juicing may be an effective addition to your nutritional program, as long as you drink mostly green vegetables/grasses and avoid drinking too many of the fruits. For example, two cups of carrot juice (16 ounces) is approximately equivalent to eating one and a half pounds of raw carrots. Eating so many carrots at one time would be hard on the jaws and teeth and would take a long time to eat and digest! Juices are unique because they allow the digestive system to receive very concentrated amounts of phytonutrients that could not be obtained by eating a normal amount of raw vegetables and fruits.

Lose weight!

If you want to lose weight and that hard-to-lose stomach fat, raw juicing is an excellent weight-loss therapy. Your cells will feel so satiated from the rich boost of vitamins and minerals that hunger cravings, especially those for sugar elevating junk foods will diminish. You will feel lighter, more energetic and nutritionally satisfied.

Common mistakes!

Juicing is a very powerful nutritional therapy, but most people misapply this therapy by preparing mostly fruit juices (or by using an inferior juicer).  But remember that too much concentrated sugar, even if it comes from fresh organic fruit can be detrimental to health, elevating blood sugar levels and increasing susceptibility to high sugar conditions such as Candida Albicans and more severe illnesses. As a healthier (but still delicious!) balance, we prefer the ratio of juicing 3 vegetables to 1 fruit. If you are suffering from an acute illness then we suggest as a precaution that you juice only vegetables until you are better and can begin to introduce some fruits into the blend.

Alkalise yourself!

Disease simply cannot exist in an alkalized and oxygenated body. Green juices (and green smoothies) have an alkaline reaction in the body and help protect against acid build-up as well as stimulate the body to manufacture hemoglobin. Green juices contain organic water, the purest most natural water available to us, and they cleanse the body of the waste within the cells and tissues. Green juices (and green smoothies) also contain an abundance of chlorophyll, which is a molecule whose structure is almost exactly the same as the hemoglobin molecule of the human blood. Chlorophyll helps to oxygenate the blood, repair tissue and is also very important in helping to remove toxins from the body.

Enzymes are lost in packaged, pasteurized juices!

One of the major health benefits of juicing is that it is an easy way to get beneficial enzymes, which are primarily found in raw foods, into the body. Commercially made fruit and vegetable juices have been processed in a way that alters their natural state rendering them devoid of vital nutrients and life-force. They are lacking all important enzymes and without them they are a sugary, practically dead food for the body. On the other hand, enzymes in fresh fruits and vegetables have the vital role of converting food into body tissue and energy.  Enzymes are also involved in metabolism,  so one of the more valuable health benefits of juicing is that it can increase metabolic rate.  Juicing also ensures that the body is getting sufficient amounts of phytochemicals, substances in plants that are considered among the most powerful ways to fight disease.  While most people do not eat enough raw fruits and vegetables to obtain the amount of phytochemicals that would make a difference, it is relatively easy to drink enough juice to obtain sufficient amounts of these powerful nutrients.  In addition, antioxidants and other immune enhancing properties are concentrated in juices.

Recovery from Illness

Scientists estimate that there may be as many as 10,000 different phytochemicals in fruits and vegetables having the potential to affect diseases such as cancer, stroke or metabolic syndrome

Medicinal nutrients!

Raw juices contain natural medicinal nutrients that provide antioxidant, antibiotic, and hormonal balancing benefits. For example, Brussel sprouts and string beans are known to contain insulin-like substances that can be beneficial to Type 2 diabetics, and especially Type 1 diabetics. In addition, phytonutrients needed by the pancreas to produce insulin are present in cucumber and onion juices; and, the phytonutrient properties of broccoli, carrot, celery, lettuce and spinach are also beneficial to diabetics.

Hippocrates referred to as the father of Western medicine said:

“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”.

For example, broccoli is an excellent source of chromium, which helps to regulate insulin usage in the body. Fresh juices of garlic, onions, radish and tomatoes contain various antibiotic properties. Alfalfa, olives, asparagus, lettuce, mustard greens, radishes, cabbage and cucumbers contain silicon, which works to support the pancreas. Wheat/barley grass, celery, kelp, cucumber and cabbage juice are excellent to reduce acidity and blood pressure.

Green, leafy vegetables such as spinach help to cleanse and heal the gastrointestinal tract. The phytonutrient properties of carrot are also beneficial to diabetics once they have their blood glucose level under control.

Which Juicer — Masticator or Centrifugal

The quality of your juice is important so your machine also needs to be of good quality. There are generally two types of juicers on the market today. One spins centrifugally at high speeds pushing the juice through a fine mesh. The other type is a masticator using a slow, strong turning motion that literally grinds the fruit & vegetable fibers to release the juice. Most importantly this is the only type of juicer that is also able to extract the juice from green leaves and grasses.

Both work well, but both work differently. In our opinion, for long-term juicing it pays off to invest in the Omega type juicer to optimize the health benefits of not only fruit but the all important health promoting green juices.

Why choose Organic?

Store bought vs. Freshly juiced!

What is the difference between Freshly made and store bought:
Quite simply it is a matter of live enzymes – aliveness. Store bought juice, (no matter how pure) has been pasteurized (heated) which kills most of the health promoting enzymes turning into an unnatural, nutritionally depleted sugary drink.
Store bought juices do not have the same positive effect as fresh and will add to weight gain and problems caused by too much sugar in the diet – such as Candida albacans.
